Broadsoft offers two options when building a business, Group or Enterprise, Uboss supports both options.
The below detail lists the difference between the two options, due to the additional functionality that is built into Uboss we find that 99% of new installs are built as Groups. Once a new install is built you are unable to easily change between the two options
1. Directories
With Traditional businesses we provide site level directories via LDAP, however LDAP doesn't allow users to have personal directories and does not work with Webex.
With Enterprises Broadworks directories cover business, site and personal levels and work for both phones and Webex.
To see Enterprise level directories on physical devices please contact support.
2. Extension numbers
With traditional businesses, extension numbers are unique across all sites of the business, with Enterprises they only need to be unique within a site and users can call between sites by prefixing the extension number with the site's location code:
When using the “Get next extension” option in Uboss it might provide extension numbers already in use on another site within the Enterprise.
If the extension number is unique across all sites, users can call the extension number on other sites without their location code, however once you dial, the phone will show you calling the location code + extension number so if the location code is 1 and the extension is 001 it will show you ringing 1001.
3. Call Processing Policies
With traditional businesses you have a Call Processing Policy at the business level as per the below and all sites use those settings:
With Enterprises you have the below Call Processing settings at the business level:
And each site has its own as well:
4. Private dial plans
Enterprises can be assigned private dialling. By default, the private dial plans will be attempted first. If the call cannot be routed using the private plans, then the public dialling plans will be attempted.
Private dial plans incorporate the VoiceVPN policy to dial between locations using a location code and an extension.
Uboss does not support Private dial plan configuration.
How to create an Enterprise:
To create an Enterprise at reseller level you with need to change the below option to either User Choice or Enterprise:
If you select “User Choice” when you create a new business, you will be able to choose if it is an Enterprise or Traditional business:
